Head and Neck

The head and neck treatment centers provide evaluation and treatment for patients with all types and stages of head and neck cancers, from the earliest lesions to the rarest, most challenging tumors. These include malignancies of the larynx, oral cavity, nasopharynx, pharynx, paranasal sinuses, thyroid, and salivary glands, as well as cutaneous (skin) malignancies and periorbital tumors.

Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals in head and neck surgery; medical oncology; radiation oncology; dentistry; oral surgery; reconstructive surgery; speech, voice, and swallowing therapy; nutrition; and social work.

A major focus of the clinical and research program is an emphasis on integrated chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery for the treatment of locally advanced disease to preserve organs and improve survival.

The treatment centers' services include one-time consultation and assessment, second opinions, risk assessment, genetic counseling, and prevention counseling, as well as innovative treatments, including investigational therapies. Among the treatments offered are surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, stereotactic radiation therapy, brachytherapy, proton-beam therapy, and biologic and immunologic therapies.
